Valdosta K9 Coach – Your # 1 dog training
solution in South Georgia and North Florida.
We are devoted to creating calm, happy dogs through structure and obedience.
I’m Paz Platt, the owner and trainer at Valdosta K9 Coach. After retiring from the Marine Corps, I came across the world of dog training and quickly fell in love. All the skills I used during my time in the Corps (things like leadership, structure, and discipline) applied perfectly to the canine world and I knew this was my new calling.
My mission is to help families communicate to their dogs what they expect of them in a way the dog understands. Most people talk to their dog as if they understand our language. As a result, both owner and dog become frustrated. That was certainly the case with our dog, Jake, and me.
We found Jake roaming the streets where we lived. No one claimed him, so we became his forever home. We loved him, but from a training perspective did everything wrong with him! We didn’t know about crating, so he destroyed our blinds, ate a sofa and a recliner, chewed the legs of the coffee table just to name a few things. We had him neutered but that didn’t fix his issues.
Come to find out, Jake didn’t know what was expected of him and I didn’t know how to communicate it to him. I was contributing to his destructive behavior by not crating him, not correcting him, and not being a leader he could follow. If I’d known then what I know now, things would have been much different with him.
Less than a year after retiring from the Marine Corps, I was in Missouri at the Tom Rose School (one of the top dog training schools in the country) where I learned how to develop a highly functioning, obedient dog.
After graduation, I founded Valdosta K9 Coach and have been training dogs to be well behaved members of their family ever since. At Valdosta K9 Coach, we’ll teach your dog the obedience skills they need so they can live in our world and be an enjoyable part of our daily lives.
